Newfoundland and Labrador is divided into several distinic regions. Our East coast resounds with the songs of whales and the crunch of caribou hooves on barrens covered with crusty snow. Northern regions are covered with magestic unclimbed mountains, steep-sided gorges where mighty rivers rage, and historic sites, that connect us to the earliest settlers of the new world.
The Southern shore is battered by the thunderous sound of breakers crashing against rocky headlands. Morning ghosts of mists shroud bogs and reedy marshes, and the bellows of bull moose remind us, that we Newfoundlanders will always and forever be connected to nature.
Labrador is a wild land, ruthless, bare and strong. It is today very much as The Great Ice Age left it thousands of years ago. It is the core of the Great Azoric Laurentians, the only land left on the face of the earth that actually stood by when Life itself was born. The abundance of wildlife and painfully breathtaking scenery, make it a favorite of people who truly wish to experience nature in it's raw and unspoiled form.
Our home is located on the West coast of our Island. We are blessed with white sandy beaches alive with the sound of sea birds and the smell of tangy salt air. Our sun-sprinkled wood-lands are covered with wild flowers and clear cool spring waters that gurgle melodies free for anyone who want to take time to listen. Our forests are a kaleidoscope of color, raw greens in summer, reds and golds in autumn, snow covered in winter.
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are learning to appreciate, enjoy, and preserve what we have been given. We know we must enter it humbly, taking from it memories and leaving behind nothing but footsteps. Over the last few years, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on conservation and recycling. Hopefully what we have can be preserved for future generations. Visitors are welcome and we know you will come to love our province as much as we do.
