The Lake Of Longing
Introduction

Since the beginning of time, healers had lived in the Valley of The Lake Dwellers, near the Lake of Longing. The valley and lake bestowed a renewal of spirit, body, and mind, to the healers. The art of healing demands a great price from its women. Each use of the healing stones extracts a heavy toll on their bodies and spirit. The refreshing waters, melodies of the lake sprites, and soft whispers of the tree of widsom, soothe and rejuvenate, those women in need of renewal.
At birth, each female Lake Dweller child, is tested to see which of the seven chakras or energy centers, they are best suited to. After the testing they are given a necklace of precious stone, together with raven hairs and swallow feathers, which serve to protect them from all sources of evil including spells. The necklace gives the wearer the gift of aura reading and healing. All living things possess an aura, which healers see as swirling vortexs of light that correspond in color to rainbows.
Daughters of the Valley of The Lake Dwellers, gradually came into their powers and after they had lived three, 7-year cycles of the moon, were able to read the auras of all living things and begin their life journey of healing.
Any healer who was born on the eve of a full blue moon, also received a moonstone, called thus, because of its pale, lustrous color, considered to resemble moonlight. The moonstones were gathered after they washed up from the bottom of the Lake of Longing, when the sun and moon were in a particularily heavenly and harmonious relationship, during lunar eclipses. The moonstone gave the healer the power to see the past and view the future. This awesome power could only be used when all attempts to heal using the seven chakras had failed. It was very dangerous because the healer must access the mind, spirit and body of the ill person. She therefore risks taking on the illness of the person she is in contact with.
Once the healers have mastered their healing powers, they decide where they wish to dwell. They may live as Valley, Mountain, Village, Meadow, Tree, or Lake Dwellers and each year visit the Lake of Longing, to renew their souls, minds, and bodies, in its refreshing waters.

I decided to write this story as part of a Spirit Page for a group I have been asked to join called "Little Dragon Castle" Their site has a little of everything and is Kid Safe. They have a section especially for children and one for adults, and both are a lot of fun. If you have a good imagination and like the world of fantasy, check them out.If you like what you are reading maybe you would like to vote for my site in the "Little Dragon Castle Competition." You can Vote Here
I will be adding new chapters as time goes on, so drop back to see how the story is progressing.
All the midis on my story pages are by the wonderfully talented entertainer Enya. The midis are quite beautiful, but if you enjoy this type of music you should purchase her CD's. The songs are beautiful, haunting, and so soothing to listen to.
